Construct your own woven fabric using general weaving techniques on one of the looms provided, or experiment with specific techniques on your own loom. Expand your knowledge and understanding of weaving, fibres and finishing processes for future independent projects.
Weave your own beautiful woven fabric from a selection of luxury yarns in a variety of fibres. This workshop is suitable for both complete beginners and experienced weavers. The workshop can be tailored to both individuals who want to experiment with specific techniques, as well as those wanting to learn general weaving skills.
The hand looms will be set up for you to experiment with different constructions and weights of fabric. If you would like to bring your own hand loom, Margo can recommend how to set this up prior to the course in order to explore a particular technique. This course is designed to expand knowledge and understanding in weaving, fibres and finishing processes. This course will feed ideas and techniques to be taken away for independent weaving projects.
Timetable
Arrival Day - this is the first date listed above
Courses start early evening. Residential students to arrive from 4pm, non-residential students to arrive by 6.45pm.
6.45pm: Welcome, followed by dinner (included).
8 - 9pm: First teaching session, attendance is essential.
Daily timetable
Classes 9.15 - 5pm, lunch is included.
From 6.30pm: Dinner (included for residential students).
Evening working - students may have access to workshops, but only with their tutor's permission and provided any health and safety guidelines are observed.
Last day
Classes 9.15am - 3pm, lunch is included.
Residential students are to vacate their rooms by 10am please.

Tutors
Margo Selby is a woven textile designer. She trained at Chelsea College of Art and Design and then followed this with a postgraduate degree at The Royal College of Art (RCA), graduating in 2001. Recognised for her technical excellence Margo became one of the first fellows at The Ann Sutton Foundation, a research centre for woven textiles. It was during this time that Margo united her innovative hand-woven constructions with industrial machinery to create the unique three-dimensional fabrics that were to become the trademark of the Margo Selby Brand.
