A fantastic introduction to the art of glass fusing on a small scale using amazing dichroic glass. Create beautiful glass jewellery with depth, pattern and controlled design incorporating a variety of unique techniques to make your work stand out from the rest. Learn how to fuse small glass pieces accurately, design original jewellery and create sets of pendants and earrings, experiment with new techniques and to finish work to a high standard.
You will learn different methods of cutting glass, making circles, drilling holes and etching dichroic glass to create your own unique patterns. You will learn how to build a mini mosaic pendant from small pieces of dichroic glass, layer with Bullseye glass, grout with glass powders and fire to a full fuse in the kiln. Other techniques using different firing schedules will be taught to create a variety of jewellery pieces, including dichroic layering for tack fusing shaped, layered pendants and earrings.
You will also learn how to finish your jewellery to a high standard using cold working techniques, fire polishing in the kiln and how to apply sterling silver bails, settings and earwires.
You will leave this course with at least three sets of original jewellery made from dichroic and Bullseye glass. You will have gained valuable knowledge in all aspects of glass fusing and jewellery making and your tutor Claire Hall will share many tips, tricks and firing schedules that she has developed during her career as a glass artist.

Courses start early evening. Residential students to arrive from 4pm, non-residential students to arrive by 6.45pm.
6.45pm: Welcome, followed by dinner (included).
8 - 9pm: First teaching session, attendance is essential.
Classes 9.15 - 5pm, lunch is included.
From 6.30pm: Dinner (included for residential students).
Evening working - students may have access to workshops, but only with their tutor's permission and provided any health and safety guidelines are observed.
Classes 9.15am - 3pm, lunch is included.
Residential students are to vacate their rooms by 10am please.

Glass artist Claire Hall originally trained as a sculptor with a BA Hons in Fine Art and a PGCE in Art and Technology. She has been teaching her distinct style of glass fusing for the last ten years as a regular teacher at Warm Glass UK and in glass studios across Europe.
