On this practical course you will learn about graphite pencils and their properties and potential to produce a wide variety of marks, taking drawing beyond a line. You will explore materials and techniques through a selection of exercises. Working from the tutor’s prompts, your imagination and observation in a scale that suits your needs, you will produce drawings as research/reference material or works in their own right. Exercises will explore drawing elements such as line, tone, texture, pattern, repetition and contrast with the fun of doodles. This course would be ideal for those starting to draw, or wanting to extend drawing skills, appropriate for sketches, designs and finished art work.
The tutor will guide and support you with tasks, demonstrations, one-to-ones and group discussions to help you make the most of your day.
By the end of the course, you will have gained confidence in knowledge and use of materials, learned new techniques, increased awareness in the possibilities of drawing and developed new ideas about your own drawing.
