About this course

Spend the day at West Dean College learning how to research and produce a planting plan. Annie will guide you through the process of choosing and positioning plants to create a working plan.

Course Description

"Right plant, right place" is the mantra for designing a successful planting plan. On this one day course you will learn how to research and select the appropriate plants for your garden. Annie will also guide you through the process of positioning plants on a drawn plan. You will be given a bed to plan and plant as an exercise on paper, which can be applied to your garden conditions.


Timetable for one day courses

Students should arrive by 9am for registration.

Classes are from 9.15 - 5pm

Lunch is included.

Course Materials

What students need to bring

  • Any books or nursery catalogues that you will find useful or inspirational.
  • Information on your own garden, such as photos, and results of a pH soil test is useful but not obligatory

Annie Guilfoyle

Annie Guilfoyle has a BA in Garden Design from Middlesex University, her design studio Creative Landscapes is based in West Sussex. Her work is draws upon influences from art and architecture. She combines running her studio with lecturing internationally.
