About this course

Learn how to use organic and permaculture principles to design productive, balanced and vibrant gardens. By taking inspiration from nature, looking after the soil and working with wildlife, we can actively help to absorb carbon and create beautiful and resilient gardens.

Course Description

The morning will start with an overview of organic and permaculture principles, illustrated by a range of organic fruit and vegetable gardens, designed by the tutor, including community allotments, wildlife garden areas, school eco-gardens and her own market garden.

We will further explore simple techniques that can be used in any garden space to reduce carbon usage and create balance to better manage changing weather patterns.

After lunch, we will go outside to have a demonstration and practical session where you will get to practise some of the techniques already discussed.

The final afternoon session will be spent focusing on participants’ own gardens; support will be given to look at developing both established and newer food growing garden spaces.
