    Jez riley French's 'deep listening' performances are immediate, intuitive, simple and radical, quietly proposing new ways of perceiving the world around us and our relationship to it. Lisa Knapp's music is firmly grounded in traditional folk singing, constantly reimagining the old songs with an inventive flair that breathes startling new life into each one.

  • Paul Wilmot - Lunchtime Piano Recital

    Concert

    Join us at this lunchtime concert which celebrates a diverse selection of piano works written
    during the historical period of James' time at West Dean. Paul Wilmot was an organ scholar at University College, Oxford, where he studied under the renowned organist David Sanger. Graduating in 2003 with a First in Oriental Studies, he subsequently gaining a Master of Studies from University College in 2004. Paul then worked for the Clay Sanskrit Library, publishing a translation of 'The Great Hall' from the Mahabharata with the NY University Press, then in Mauritius as a repetiteur and writer for Opera Mauritius, and more recently as organist of the Vega archipelago in Northern Norway.

  • Salon Imaginaire #7 - Diane Cluck and Ichi

    Concert

    Diane Cluck is an American singer-songwriter who contributed to New York's burgeoning 'Antifolk' scene in the early 2000s. She tours the US, UK and Europe, employing singing as a healing, textural experience. Ichi is a musician from Nagoya in Japan who takes the notion of a one-man band to new limits, combining his quirky handmade instrument inventions with steel-drum, ping-pong balls, toys and everyday objects.   • Salon Imaginaire #8 - Pat Thomas and Sarah Angliss

    Concert

    Pat Thomas studied classical piano from aged eight and started playing Jazz from the age of sixteen. He has since gone on to develop an utterly unique style - embracing improvisation, jazz and new music. Sarah Angliss is a composer making dreamlike performances where the total theatre of the sound's creation is as striking as the music itself. Her music reflects her eclectic background as a classically trained composer, electronic artist and folk musician, and often plays with notions of electrical mysticism and the uncanny.

  • Recital by Crazy Nails! (Gaëlle Solal and Boris Gaquere)

    Crazy Nails! are a classical guitar duo. Gaëlle Solal is a prize-winning international concert artist and teacher from France with a passion for contemporary music and dance. Boris Gaquere is a Belgian international concert guitarist, chamber musician and composer.

    Roy Stratford performs Bach's Goldberg Variations - a work which demonstrates almost everything that Western classical music has achieved in terms of both technical brilliance and emotional range.
