Ross Taylor

Associate Tutor

Ross Taylor is an artist and lecturer based in London. The underlying focus of his research explores historical and contemporary ideas surrounding the portrayal of thought and experience through image. He first came to West Dean in 2018 as the School of Arts artist-in-residence, and has since taught on the DACC and MFA courses. Alongside teaching at West Dean, he has been a visiting lecturer at many other art colleges and universities, including The Slade School of Fine Art, Camberwell College of Arts, Winchester School of Art, Sunderland University and John Cabot University in Rome. He received his MA from the Royal College of Art in 2008 and between 2015-16 was the Abbey Scholar in Painting at the British School at Rome.

Ross has recently contributed to lecture programmes and exhibitions at Tate Liverpool UK; Hastings Contemporary; UK; GASK: The Gallery of Central Bohemia, Czech Rep; Konsthall Växjö, Smaland, Sweden; ARCO, Madrid, Spain; Independent, NY, USA, alongside regularly contributing to publications including Ambit Magazine, Control and Artforum. He is the recipient of several awards from organisations such as the Arts and Humanities Research Council; The Windows Commission, UAL; The Abbey Awards, The British School at Rome; Iaspis and The Swedish Arts Grants Commission and the Chelsea Arts Club Travel scholarship fund.
