Nicola Burt BA Hons, BIID Reg ID, SBID

Nicola Burt is our interior design tutor in the Open Learning department at KLC School of Design.

Since 2010 I have been teaching a global community of interior design students, both online and at KLC.

I also run my own successful interior design studio, Nicola Burt Interior Design which I established in 2005. You can also find me on Instagram.

I believe where we live, work and play should be joyous and uplifting places, and I work closely with clients to help them create their dream spaces.

Bringing my experience of ongoing 'real-world' design practice and industry knowledge into my teaching allows students to understand current industry trends, practices, and regulations, and how they can apply this to their studies.

My work has been featured in many publications and I regularly give talks at events including Focus at London Design Week, London Art Fair and Grand Designs Live.

In 2019, I ran a successful design competition called ‘Take A Seat’ with furniture designer Tom Faulkner. Design & Technology students in the Southwark Schools Learning Partnership (SSLP) were invited to design a chair. We ran a series of workshops, and they visited the KLC School of Design, Tom’s showroom in Chelsea, and his workshop in Swindon.

During COVID Lockdowns, I ran a successful weekly Instagram Live series with Cinzia Moretti of Moretti Interior Design, sharing our design and industry knowledge across a range of interior design topics with viewers. Many OL students tuned in and found it incredibly useful.

My work has been featured in many publications and I regularly give talks at events including Focus at London Design Week, London Art Fair and Grand Designs Live.

I am a Registered Interior Designer® with the BIID (British Institute of Interior Design), and an accredited designer with the SBID (Society of British Interior Designers).
