May Everett

May Everett is a printmaker and painter based in Sussex. She is a fully qualified teacher with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and a Masters Level 7 PGCE in Post-Compulsory Art & Design. May has worked in art education for 18 years, previously as a course leader and most recently as an independent tutor. Her work is held in the UK and international private collections.

Approach to teaching
My approach to teaching is to facilitate experimentation and allow students to embrace the ‘trial and error’ nature of printmaking, whilst offering technical guidance and suggestions for further development.

What inspires your work
I am interested in gestural marks and surface residue, combined with printed or collaged elements. I tend to work instinctively and discover the image whilst working, although recurring themes shift and reappear through painterly abstraction.
