Justine Randall

Justine studied tapestry in the painting school at the Royal College of Art. She is the sessional tutor for Tapestry at Morley College Waterloo and teaches both traditional and experimental tapestry techniques. Her work is exhibited at the Jagged Art Gallery in Marylebone and Paul Smith Albemarle Street. Her work was included in the 11th International Mini Textile & Fibre Art Exhibition 2023 and Heallreaf 4, the touring exhibition showcasing the very best in contemporary tapestry 2022. Last year Justine travelled to India and the Himalayas with her nail frame and is currently working on a number of small works for her ‘Woven sketchbook’ series of tapestries.

Describe your approach to teaching
My approach to teaching is to inspire and excite students to want to produce their own work, experiment with techniques and materials, learn the basics and understand best practices. I also hope they will enjoy the learning experience and learn from their own mistakes (and my own!).

What inspires your own work?
My work is inspired by time, temperature and landscape and our emotional response to the world we live in. I am currently working on a series of small tapestries about India and the Himalayas.
