Jack Durling

Jack Durling is a ceramic animal sculptor based in Brighton. He studied at Brighton University in 2014 and has run workshops with Blind Veterans UK and several educational facilities. He is currently working with Maidstone Borough Council to create a permanent public sculpture and is a David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation shortlisted wildlife artist in 2022.

What is your approach to teaching?
My approach is to seek to express my love of animals in my work, capturing behaviour and signifying conservation undertones through decorative embellishment. It's an exploration I capture in my passion for ceramics.

What is inspires your own work?
I am inspired by animals great and small. I am drawn to capture individual stories, narrative and unique characters in my work.
