Helen Scholes

Helen is a Fellow of the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society, FCLAS; and a full member of Letter Exchange and designs the Edge.

She studied Illustration, completed the (SSI) Advanced Training Scheme, and is an Accredited Calligraphy Tutor and experienced Art Teacher.

She recently spent a year as a full-time student at the European Lettering Institute in Bruges.

Describe your approach to teaching
I believe anyone can be taught to draw. I really enjoy sharing my ideas and know that to be a good teacher you have to keep learning new things yourself.

What inspires your own work?
I love making things and adapting my skills to new media. I started working on my journaling and sketchbook skills during lockdown and now enjoy using watercolour most of all.
