Chris Carpenter

Returning to the UK, he has exhibited regularly at the Goldsmiths’ Fair and other events including shows in Munich.

What inspires your own work?
My inspiration comes from making models on cardboard and paper. I have amassed an extensive resource of shapes that I return to and develop. I work in silver, gold, gilding metal, brass and steel. Each metal has a different quality which affects the ease or difficulty of working with it. The luxurious softness of precious 22-carat gold, and the awkward stubbornness of steel.
