Course Tutor - Risk Management for Collections Care

Dr Anna Bülow apprenticed as a bookbinder in Germany before graduating with a degree in paper conservation from the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Kunst und Konservierung in Bern, Switzerland. She worked as a research fellow at the Canadian Conservation Institute in Ottawa and graduated from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, with an MAC in conservation research in 1999. Specializing in preventive conservation, she completed her PhD at De Montfort University in Leicester, UK, in 2002, and took up a post as Head of Preservation at The National Archives, UK in 2003 where she introduced risk management for collection care. In 2013 she moved to the British Museum where she is Head of Conservation. Her special interest is developing and implementing a collection care strategy based on value assessment and risk management.
