West Dean International Classical Guitar Festival
19 to 24 August 2017

This annual Summer School offers outstanding learning and performing opportunities for classical guitarists of all abilities. The course includes repertoire and technique classes, lectures, masterclasses and workshops. Students are assigned to an ensemble group according to their ability level and receive two private individual lessons. Additional playing opportunities include the guitar orchestra, student concerts and masterclasses given by internationally acclaimed artists.

For students of all ages (over 16) and of grade 2 level and above. Bursaries are available for students aged 16 -24. Application deadline 19 May 2017. Download a bursary application form.

We also offer a season ticket for all four concerts and the open day at the special price of £45.

The Open Day Includes exhibitions of music and instruments, a guitar makers' showcase, masterclass with Pavel Steidl and recital by Vincent Lindsey-Clark.

Bursary Fund Raffle

  • 1st Prize - José Ramírez "Guitarra del Tiempo" classical guitar, including a Hiscox case donated by José Ramirez and Classical Guitar Centre, Birmingham, and a subscription to Classical Guitar magazine.
  • 2nd Prize - A collection of music by Paul Coles, published and donated by Universal Editions, and a subscription to Classical Guitar magazine.
  • 3rd Prize - A selection of D'Addario products, including strings, tuner and capo donated by the D'Addario Foundation, and a subscription to Classical Guitar magazine.
