About this course

This garden talk will discuss shrubs and the role they can play, not only in sustainable planting design, but also in creating schemes with climate change in mind.

Course Description

For quite some time, herbaceous perennials have taken centre-stage in planting design, but surely it is now time to consider shrubs and the role they can play, not only in sustainable planting design, but also in creating schemes with climate change in mind.

Kevin Williams and Michael Guidi have just written a book called ‘Shrouded in Light - Naturalistic Planting’ inspired by wild shrublands.  This is the first book to demonstrate how shrubs can be key players in naturalistic planting and, through looking at natural landscapes, the authors illustrate how we can be inspired by them to create exciting and resilient planting.
