About this course

Make a set of hanging copperfoiled glass stars, varying in size from 11-19cm, using clear textured glass. The course includes glass cutting, copperfoiling and soldering.

Course Description

Learn how to make copperfoiled glass stars to hang in your home at Christmas. You will have time to make three stars, varying in size from 11-19cm. If time permits, you can make more stars, although there will be a charge for the extra materials.

The course is a practical one and will include glass cutting, copperfoiling and soldering. Each stage will be demonstrated by the tutor and followed by individual tutor support

This subject focused course is delivered to suit any level of experience from beginner to advanced practitioner.

Please note that you will be standing up to work during the first half of the day on this course, which you may find physically tiring. You will also need strength in your hands to use the glass cutters.

This one-day course follows a set project specifically designed and prepared by the tutor. Changes to the design can’t be done due to the logistics of the course.

Students should arrive by 9am for registration.

Classes are from 9.15 - 5pm

Lunch is included.

  • A face mask to wear when soldering

Additional information

Please note: If you are pregnant or breast feeding, you should consult your GP before enrolling on this course, as working with lead and solder can be harmful to the developing baby. You must not wear open shoes or have bare legs in the workshop. Please do not wear loose clothing or dangly jewellery as it may get caught in machinery. Long hair must be tied back. Please note that you will be standing up to work during the first half of the day on this course.

Carole Gray trained in three-dimensional design at Middlesex University. She is a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and the British Society of Master Glass Painters.
