About this course

Learn how to make a sculptural willow hare, using willow weaving techniques.

Course Description

Learn the basic skills to create a three-dimensional hare in buff willow and how to add detail and strength through choice of material and weaving technique. The course is designed as an introduction to using willow to make sculptural forms and is ideal for those with no prior experience of working with willow. Everyone will take home a finished willow hare.

Students should arrive by 9am for registration.

Classes are from 9.15 - 5pm

Lunch is included.

  • Willow to create your hare is included in the course fee.

What students need to bring

  • Apron
  • Stout covered footwear
  • Sharp secateurs or side cutters (if possible)
  • Camera (optional) to record techniques

Additional information

Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no open toes or sandals).

Dominic Parrette

Dominic is a basketmaker and coppice worker with over ten years experience in teaching his craft.
He makes a woven willow structures, organic forms and frame baskets using a range of traditional and contemporary techniques.
