Lorna Singleton - Oak Spelk Basket

Lorna Singleton

Lorna Singleton is a coppice worker and basket maker specialising in oak spelk baskets and hazel basketry since 2010. Graduate of the Bill Hogarth Memorial Apprenticeship Scheme, Lorna is dedicated to passing on heritage skills and making woodlands valued through crafts. Lorna's work is regularly exhibited and she teaches throughout the country.

Describe your approach to teaching.

I hope you will be able to relax and engross yourself in the basketry process and fall in love with the basket you emerge with.

What inspires your own work?

I love working in the ancient woodland that I manage and being out in the Cumbrian landscape. Basketmaking allows me to understand this environment in a new way.
