Eloise Scotland spotty lampshade

Eloise Scotland

Eloise Scotland is a contemporary lampshade maker and tutor, with a passion for pattern and colour. Having trained originally as an upholsterer, Eloise soon realised that lampshades allowed more opportunity to indulge her love of textiles. She works directly with individual clients and interior designers to make bespoke pieces using traditional techniques.

Describe your approach to teaching.

I love sharing my passion for textiles and seeing students grow in confidence as they make their own beautiful lampshades. I believe strongly in the benefits and satisfaction to be found in making something with your own hands.

What inspires your own work?

The lampshades I make are inspired by my love of colour and pattern. I am always happiest when working with natural fabrics, such as linen and silk, and am on a mission to show that lampshades can be far more interesting than polite beige silk!
