Posters on the Underground

MFA student Magenta Gang has exhibited her Magenta Tree as part of Art Below's ongoing exhibition of poster-art in Underground Train Stations in London. The Magenta Tree was exhibited at Waterloo and Charing Cross underground stations in the spring. The featured tree is on the grounds of West Dean; wrapped in the magenta coloured silk thread that Korean artist Gang has made a central theme of her work.

Art Below is an independent public arts organisation that gives artists access to advertising space to showcase their work in the London Underground where over 2 million people travel every day.

To celebrate the posters going up in the underground a private view event was held as Make Space Studios with other poster art works.

"Directional art with an unorthodox backdrop lends Art Below its fresh, original edge that's currently causing a creative awakening amongst commuters" [The Guardian]
