Tom Kealy has designed and made contemporary furniture since
training at Parnham College in 1979, and for ten years was senior
craftsman in the John Makepeace workshops. He runs furniture making
classes from his workshop, and teaches at the Centre for Furniture
Craftsmanship in America and the Building Crafts College,
London.
Describe your approach to teaching:
By giving clear demonstrations of the techniques used,
encouragement and individual support, I help students to learn
through hands on practical experience; so that they gain confidence
in the new skills they are developing.
What inspires your own work?
Architecture, design and crafts in other materials, the natural
world, indigenous tools and objects.
