Ted Vincent
Ted Vincent was trained at The Royal College of Art and has
extensive teaching experience. As a senior lecturer at Kingston
University he taught a range of disciplines in art and design,
specialising in degree courses in interior design, furniture and
product design. Recently retired, he is pleased to bring his
knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process to
students at West Dean College. His work is held in private
collections in the UK and USA and in The Victoria and Albert
Museum, London. Publications include articles for The Guild of
Master Craftsmen and papers for Green Shift Symposium, a collection
of papers on matters related to sustainable Architecture.
Describe your approach to teaching:
I aim to bring out the best of every student, to always encourage
and to lead by example, to combine tradition and innovation, to
promote experimentation, and to put aside pre-conceptions.
What inspires your own work?
Inspiration comes from the detail, beauty and values set by the
natural world, and the poetry of Wallace Stevens and Gerard Manley
Hopkins.
