Susan Chin

Susan Chin is a jewellery artist known for quirky and innovative work in mixed materials. She studied at Penland School in North Carolina and has taught workshops and shown widely throughout the United States.

Describe your approach to teaching:
My approach to teaching is to provide interesting techniques and structure but also to listen to the needs of the students and meet them in that place. It is my hope that each person will arrive open to new ideas and ready to engage in a self-expressive, hands on experience with the ideas presented.

What inspires your own work?
The forms of the natural world…the clever seed pod, the designs of the human body, floppy microorganisms and the unruly stash of detritus that surrounds me in my studio-all have a voice in my creative process.
