Peter Kuh

Peter Kuh trained for 2 years in New England then 2 years with Alan Peters, 1973-77. He ran his own workshop, 1977-87, before moving into full-time teaching at Rycotewood College, 1988-2006. He now teaches part-time in London and at West Dean College, alongside designing and making new pieces in his Sidmouth workshop.

Describe your approach to teaching:

Peter's courses are introduced with an explanation of the choice of construction methods. Students learn by watching demonstrations and practicing on softwood before working with sharp tools on their project.

What inspires your own work?

I find inspiration in the natural world. I enjoy the challenge of designing and making pieces that beautifully serve their purpose well!
