Peter Binnington

Peter graduated at Camberwell School of Art and at the University of Newcastle-on-Tyne. The decoration of glass panels with gold and paint has been the focus of Peter's studio for more than two decades. Working with pre-eminent interior designers, his work features in prestigious interiors in Britain and abroad.

Glass applied with images and decoration in gold and paint - verre églomisé - has emerged in almost every period and style of European art for two thousand years. From exquisite Greek bowls to the contemplative subtlety of mediaeval icons; from elegant Adam panels reflecting dancing candle-light to the cool chic of art deco, it has lent its unique, precious qualities to the artistic expression of the time.

You will be introduced to techniques of applying gold leaf and paint to glass, using both historic and modern materials. You will have the opportunity to create your own pieces of work and acquire the essential skills to confidently develop at home.

I enjoy process, both in the practise of time-honoured traditional methods and in the exploration of exciting possibilities presented by new materials.
