Paula Haughney

Paula Haughney, sculptor, stone-carver, maker and teacher studied at Portsmouth Polytechnic and Eastern Illinois university obtaining a BA and MA in Fine Art Sculpture. Stone carving came later, once found, she realised this was her chosen medium. Now having over 30 years experience and many monumental sculptures completed she has taught at all levels, exhibits regularly and is included in public collections worldwide.

I am very passionate about stone carving as a vehicle for making sculpture and want to share my knowledge and skills. My aim is to provide students with the capabilities to create their own personal sculptural language.

History, a sense of place and purpose inspire commission outcomes.

Experiences and life, combined with the material, sometimes reclaimed, feed my personal creative journey. Looking at ancient carvings provokes a thirst to improve my technique.
