Maz Jackson works within the traditions of egg tempera using
mineral pigments and gold leaf on gessoed oak panels to give her
paintings a unique surreal quality. Her work is in exhibitions and
collections worldwide. Maz has been selected to represent the UK at
Venice, Florence and Palermo Biennales and has won national and
international awards.
Describe your approach to teaching:
I enjoy de-mystifying egg tempera techniques. Any image can be
adapted and portrayed, once the basic skills are absorbed. I aim to
give people confidence to make this medium a satisfying part of
their own practice.
What inspires your own work?
I have a deep interest in traditions of practice. Imagery springs
from anything that excites, the spaces between and things
sacred.
