Mary Reynolds Thompson

Mary is a facilitator of journal and poetry therapy and an international teacher and speaker. Her work has been published in numerous magazines and her book Reclaiming the Wild Soul was a 2015 Nautilus Award Winner. She is core faculty for the Therapeutic Writing Institute, the leading training institute for expressive writing therapy.

How would you describe your approach to teaching?

I want my students to be surprised by their writing, just as they might be if they took a forgotten path and found themselves in a place of utter and unexpected beauty.

What inspires your own work?

I feel more alive, more creative, more connected when I spend time in the natural world. And I know that I am not alone in this.
