Maggie Sawkins

Maggie has over 25 years' experience of teaching in community and health care settings. She holds an MA with distinction in Creative Writing and is a professional member of the National Association of Writers in Education. She's the recipient of the 2013 Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry.

"I've taught poetry to people from all walks of life and have witnessed its transformative power. My approach is to create a warm and friendly atmosphere where people feel inspired to write, share and listen. I believe that writing can help you to make sense of the past and the present - even if the subject matter is disturbing, the act of creation is positive."
