John Wakefield is a distinguished singing teacher, performing
with the Royal Opera House and other major companies. After winning
the Kathleen Ferrier Memorial Scholarship in 1958, he studied at
the Royal Academy of Music, and made his operatic debut with the
Welsh National Opera, then with the Sadlers Wells Opera for many
years. His concert repertoire took him across Europe and the USA,
until his performing career was cut short by illness. He is now a
distinguished Professor of Singing and a Senior Lecturer at Trinity
Laban Conservatoire in Music and Dance. In his teaching John aims
to address any technical problems, and broaden musical experience
from sharing common musical and artistic goals.
