John Browning

John Browning has made and flown kites for about 50 years. More recently, he has concentrated on using natural plant materials to make his kites as objects of art. He has exhibited his kites at shared international and solo exhibitions, and gives informative illustrated lectures. He also enjoys sharing his kitemaking techniques with children and the young at heart.

Your Approach to Teaching?
My aim is to encourage students to understand the subject; by demonstration, by explanation and by guidance and thus to enable them to develop their own skills.

What Inspires your Own Work?
My own work starts with my love and wonder of natural materials. Inspiration comes from seeing, feeling, and hearing ideas. I am inspired by knowing that, if I can bring materials, ideas and feelings together and construct a thing of beauty, then there lies contentment.
