Describe your approach to teaching:

My courses and workshops begin with tutor led learning before I gradually stand back to allow students to explore and develop. Students receive plenty of 1:1 support and encouragement in creating and taking ownership of their own work.

What inspires your own work?

My own work is decorative, subtle and restrained and has narrative qualities full of visual metaphors and spatial relationships between carefully placed and arranged elements. Content is eclectic and informed by collecting and organising things, by natural objects and found objects, by wild places and ordered places, by surface marks, nostalgia, loss and attention to detail. Out of this mix arises my visual language and preoccupation with the pleasure of making work.
