Janet Bolton

Janet Bolton exhibits and teaches worldwide. She has work in both public and private collections, and has published books for both adults and children, the latest being Fabric Pictures: a Workshop with Janet Bolton. She is a member of Contemporary Applied Arts.

Describe your approach to teaching:

I develop students' appreciation of the immense possibilities available when using very simple hand sewing techniques when working with fabric. The emphasis being on what you place where.


What inspires your own work?

My inspiration comes from all walks of life, memory, imagination, visual experience, or often a combination of all three. The fabrics themselves can sometimes evoke meaningful ideas .
