Eddie Glew

Eddie Glew is a Yeoman Basket Maker & Sculptor, weaving dreams in his workshop on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border.

His father specialised in traditional English basket making techniques and he was a local basket maker. His father’s teaching, skills, approach to life and experience inspires his basket collections, creating beautiful, honest, functional baskets that stand the test of time.

In 2014, he gained a full scholarship through The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust. He spent two years learning about precision basket making, made to measure skills and expertise in square work.

Describe your approach to teaching
He makes anything that can be imagined in willow. From my made to measure commissions to the heritage collection. Working with precision, creativity and a fair amount of imagination, willow is his life.

What inspires your own work
His true passion and purpose are making useful & beautiful items using the skills that he has learned. He loves the challenge of working on bespoke commissions & bringing abstract ideas and client visions to life.
