Daniel Pateman

Daniel designs and makes furniture to commission inspired by the principles of the arts and crafts movement which had a profound influence whilst serving his apprenticeship at the Edward Barnsley Workshop in Hampshire. He has an affinity for using hand tools and how they creatively contribute to the making process.

Describe your approach to teaching:
Bringing enthusiasm and passion for sharing the subject into demonstrating techniques and guiding individuals through the project, allowing the exciting and rewarding art of furniture making to be appreciated fully.

What inspires your own work?
The ethos that form follows function, architecture and furniture that has endured to become ever more beautiful with time, the nature of wood itself.
