Cornelia Schrijver

Cornelia Schrijver, (Violin & Bow maker, dipl WSVM merit).

Making and restoring instruments and bows, mainly for professional musicians, has been Cornelia's full-time occupation since graduating in 1980. As well as modern instruments, she has made baroque violins and bows. Cornelia first started teaching short courses in 2007.

Visually, my own work is inspired mostly by the beauty of instruments made by the Amati Family. It is however the sound of a good instrument in the hands of a talented musician, that makes me want to carry on making and restoring forever. The sheer joy and excitement of students who complete an instrument, will continue to inspire me to carry on teaching.

When teaching I discuss each student's project in advance of the course, in order to plan progress and to work towards achieving the best result possible. I aim to give students individual attention and teach at their own pace. Students without woodworking experience are given the chance to practice skills needed, before each new or critical stage of their own instrument is embarked upon.
