Claire Richards

Claire Richards has been teaching raffia craft for over 25 years. She learnt her craft from a visiting Australian in 1993 and since then has been hooked. Claire exhibits at a number of major and regional events where her focus is on passing on her enthusiasm for raffia.

Claire is also teaching short courses at the West Dean London Bloomsbury campus. (Please see the link in the Short Courses toolbar on the website)

Describe your approach to teaching.
My approach to teaching is to ensure that my students can relax and enjoy themselves. I provide as much 1-2-1 help as is necessary to enable this.

What inspires your own work?
My dye work is definitely inspired by nature and increasingly natural dyes. My designs are inspired by sustainable fashion and durability.
