Belinda Hager

Belinda studied jewellery and related subjects at the Sir John Cass School of Art, and since then has been a practicing contemporary jeweller, exhibiting internationally. She recently trained as a metalwork conservator at West Dean College, and now works there as the associate tutor in the Conservation of Metalwork department.

Describe your approach to teaching:
I like to encourage students to experiment with techniques and materials. Making things should, in my opinion, involve a large element of play.

What inspires your own work?
My work is often based on political or social themes, and within that I enjoy playing with a range of contrasting colours, textures, and materials
