Alison Bendy lives in Oxford where she has a well established
guitar teaching practice. Her early studies in psychology at
Leicester University have led her to a particular interest in the
ways in which people learn.
Her performing career took off at an early age in her native
Bristol, where she made appearances on local TV and radio. She has
performed solo at the Purcell Room and worked with several singers
and chamber groups, both locally and abroad.
Currently Alison performs in a duo with Gerald Garcia. She also
sings with a choir and is a member of the Aragon Guitar
Quartet.
Since 1981 she has been closely involved in the publishing and
recording of educational guitar music, especially the popular
Guitarist's Way series (Holley Music) and her acclaimed album of
student repertoire Danza Mora.
"Alison Bendy's playing is fluent and unstrained. Her
performances are pleasing, well shaped with good tone and always
with an eye toward the students who will be listening to her
playing." Classical Guitar Magazine
