Drawing is a motor skill, like learning to drive a car or swim. Anyone can learn how to draw at any age. The secret is learning to see the world differently. This course will explore a variety of approaches to drawing including blind, partial peek, basic shape, negative space, measurement, and tonal drawing techniques.
You will work from a number of different subject matter including, the face, the body, still life and landscape using a broad range of drawing materials.
Arrival Day - this is the first date listed above
Courses start early evening. Residential students to arrive from 4pm, non-residential students to arrive by 6.45pm.
6.45pm: Welcome, followed by dinner (included).
8 - 9pm: First teaching session, attendance is essential.
Classes 9.15 - 5pm, lunch is included.
From 6.30pm: Dinner (included for residential students).
Evening working - students may have access to workshops until 9pm, but only with their tutor's permission and provided any health and safety guidelines are observed.
Classes 9.15am - 3pm, lunch is included.
Residential students are to vacate their rooms by 10am please.

Phil Tyler trained at Loughborough College of Art and Design, Virginia Commonwealth University and Brighton Polytechnic. He has taught for 33 years and runs the Printmaking Degree at Brighton. He has appeared on Sky Portrait artist of the year twice and has a track record of exhibiting nationally and internationally.
