About this course

Learn new approaches to landscape painting using mixed media, vibrant colour, light and form and mark-making.

Course Description

Investigate vibrant colour, light and form through expressive landscape painting. Learn new approaches to landscape through a series of mixed media, mark-making and painting. Explore bold and dynamic painting with colour and abstraction.

On this expressive landscape painting course you will explore how to capture the landscape with rich, vibrant colours and expressive painting processes. Led by an inspirational and enthusiastic tutor you will create bold and brilliant paintings and gain an insight into landscape painting through colour, abstraction and the imagination.

On the first evening there will be an outline of the course and essential information. Plus a techniques demonstration and practical exercise (bring work clothes).

Chris teaches innovative approaches to acrylic painting using mixed media that will improve your mark-making and painting repertoire. You will paint and draw from the landscape directly as well as from source material and your imagination so as to explore bold and dynamic colour and imagery. You will look at artists using expression, symbolism and narratives within their landscapes incorporating intuition and an expressive twist that delves into composition and expression. There will be both group discussions and one-to-one support.

By the end of the course you will have gained insights into expressive painting, have greater confidence in working with vibrant colour and abstraction, know how to make expressive landscapes and have a new range of working methods to help progress your painting processes.
