About this course

For classical guitarists (grade 4-6). Develop your technique through playing in an ensemble and by performing solo music in repertoire classes. Some aspects of the weekend's study will be shared with the concurrent course with Vincent Lindsey-Clark.

Course Description

This weekend course is for classical guitarists who wish to experience the enjoyment of playing in an ensemble, develop their technique and learn from performing their solo music in repertoire classes. Vincent Lindsey-Clark will be running a concurrent course for the advanced ensemble players. (Please note that this weekend is not suitable for beginners).

This course includes many aspects that are popular at the annual International Classical Guitar Summer School in August. You will receive tuition from both of the classical guitar weekend tutors, but will be assigned to a specific ensemble group according to your grade level; Andrew Gough (intermediate ensemble, Grades 4-6) and Vincent Lindsay-Clark (advanced ensemble, Grades 7+). The schedule will include warm-up/technique classes, repertoire classes (each student will be allocated an individual time to perform and discuss their solo repertoire with the tutor and fellow students), ensemble rehearsals, general question and answer sessions, and an informal student concert platform. The course concludes on the Sunday afternoon with a performance of the ensemble works studied.
