Learn how to produce drawings from photographs that are an accurate, life-like representation of your subject, drawing exactly what you see in every detail. Tanya takes you step by step through each stage of the process including the selection and good use of materials, tools and equipment appropriate to precise work. You will develop your observation skills and explore tone and mark-making techniques with paper and graphite. There will be demonstrations, practical tasks with plenty of one to one guidance and support. You will also be inspired by the work of pencil artists.
By the end of the weekend you will have completed some carefully executed small studies from selected detailed images through a range of drawing exercisies using knowledge and skills gained in the course. You will have gained confidence in how to approach making drawings as complete art works that are representative of your subject, and approaches and techniques you can continue to grow and master following the course.
Arrival Day - this is the first date listed above
Courses start early evening. Residential students to arrive from 4pm, non-residential students to arrive by 6.45pm.
6.45pm: Welcome, followed by dinner (included).
8 - 9pm: First teaching session, attendance is essential.
Classes 9.15 - 5pm, lunch is included.
From 6.30pm: Dinner (included for residential students).
Evening working - students may have access to workshops, but only with their tutor's permission and provided any health and safety guidelines are observed.
Classes 9.15am - 3pm, lunch is included.
Residential students are to vacate their rooms by 10am please.
