An opportunity to hear regular West Dean gardening tutor, Benjamin Pope, talk about the importance of seasonally embracing the growing year, and his experience of writing his new book 'What to sow, grow and do, a seasonal gardening guide' on this subject.

Course Description

An evening gardening talk with Benjamin Pope, Head Gardener of a private Sussex garden, West Dean tutor and now author. Benjamin will talk and answer questions on his new book ‘What to sow, grow, and do, a seasonal gardening guide’. He will also talk about the process of writing the book, from concept to final edit, along with the importance of seasonally embracing the growing year, both in the garden and the natural environment beyond.

Signed copies of the book will be available to purchase.


6-6.30pm: Arrival and registration at West Dean College – gather in the Oak Hall for a glass of wine (or non alcoholic alternative)

7:00pm: Talk in Old Library with Benjamin Pope

8.30pm: Book signing

Benjamin Pope

Ben Pope has been in the horticulture industry for the last 19 years, studying and training at the Merrist Wood and RHS Wisley, where he was awarded Best Practical and Best Overall Student. His work experience ranges from nursery practices and propagation in Australia through to design and horticultural research in London for the practice of Arabella Lennox-Boyd.
