About this course

Explore the diversity of hardy trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs you can grow in a small garden all year round. Be inspired by plant combinations and learn to recreate some of the plant vignettes yourself.

Outline timetable for the afternoon talk:
1.30 onwards registration (please arrive by 1.45pm)
2.00 Talk in Old Library by Hester Forde
3.30 Afternoon tea (tea and biscuits)
4.00 Time to wander around the gardens of West Dean until the gardens close at 5pm

Course Description

This talk is aimed at those with small gardens who want to maximise the space they have and grow more unusual plants.

Hester Forde

Hester Forde is a renowned plants person, lecturer and garden writer. She has more than 30 years’ experience of growing and creating in her own garden at Coosheen. Anyone who has visited her garden in East Cork will know that she has an insatiable appetite for plants. Her garden has featured in Gardens Illustrated and The Garden. She is secretary of the Cork Alpine Hardy Plant Society which hosts speakers from all over the globe. She has recently lectured for Garden Masterclass.
