About this course

This course will introduce you to mixed-metal fusing, building up pattern in different ways and using chemical patination processes to colour the resulting samples. You will be encouraged to bring research material which will be used as a starting point to create your own patterns and imagery.


Hazel Thorn

Hazel is a contemporary silversmith specialising in mixed-metal fusing and patination. She studied at Edinburgh College of Art, completing an undergraduate then a Masters degree before spending a year as an artist in residence, which involved working with students in all stages of their studies. She is now a regular visiting tutor at ECA.
