Explore mixed media and creative approaches, to develop your own interpretation of landscape through recorded, remembered and imagined themes. Working inside the studio and outside in the inspiring West Dean environment (weather permitting), learn mixed media techniques and then develop these in your painting.
You will expand your visual language through experimentation and guidance. Looking at line, composition, colour, pattern and texture you will be encouraged to develop your own artistic ideas to express a personal vision.
You will develop an awareness of colour through studies and combinations and you will work in a variety of scales using mixed media. This will include: acrylic paint, inks, pastels and collage materials. You will learn to build a richness to the surface of your work with expressive drawing and mark-making, layering, colour, pattern and texture, whilst exploring collage and simple printing techniques.
The tutor will support you with a series of demonstrations, plus one-to-one guidance, to help you discover how to apply the techniques to your own work. You will complete a series of experimental studies or work towards a finished piece(s).
Bring an open mind to experiment and a joy of colour, pattern and texture.
