Pottery and ceramics
Ref: S3D10792
Suitable for all
£426This course is great for both beginners and experienced artists alike. The tutors, who are clay animal artists, specialise in a form of contemporary clay modelling which pushes clay to its limits. Their technique is fast and easy to learn, bringing life, energy and grace to the creations.
The principles of the technique will be introduced through a series of short demonstrations. For the rest of the time, you will be making clay animals with guidance and support every step of the way. Once completed, your masterpieces will be dried out and then fired in the kilns.
You can expect to make a wall-mounted animal portrait head, a reclined or seated animal, and a four-legged standing animal or wall-mounted full animal.
On the first evening, you will be introduced to the techniques and should be prepared to do some preparation for your armatures on the other evenings. The tutors will be in the studio to assist you for some of this time.
Whilst there will not be the time to glaze your pieces on the course, one of the tutors will show you how it is done. You can then return to the College on a glazing day to bring your pieces to life with colour.
