About this course

Learn printmaking with lino, printing ink and presses, and intersperse paper collaged elements within these processes to create surprising and dynamic results.

Course Description

Chine colle printmaking is a process that combines printing with collage.

Learn how to master printing using oil based inks on lino-blocks. Discover all the nuances of utilising ink, print pressure and choices of papers to equip you to be in control of your picture making. You will also gain an invaluable experience in exploring colour combinations, risk taking and gaining confidence with your abilities as a maker.

The introduction of assorted papers into the print process at various points within the print processes will help you to free up any pre-conceived or staid habits and show you how you can enliven and reinvigorate your work.

The course is strong on experimentation and risk taking. You will be encouraged to work across a large body of inter-related pieces to create strong bodies of visual investigation within the medium of printmaking.

By the end of the course you will have gained knowledge on how to print effectively with lino and how to enrich your prints with the addition of collage.
